Using OneNote for Costume Planning

Recently I've started using OneNote at work to help organizing the really large files that I work on. As I've become more familiar with it, I've started using it in my personal life as well. My favourite part of of using it is that it's available to me where ever I log in to my Microsoft account.

For my Throne Room Amidala build, I've created it's own Notebook in OneNote. Inside of that Notebook, I have Sections - so far "Reference Builds" and "Materials". Inside of those sections I have pages to separate out of the information.

For example, this is a screen cap of my "Reference Builds" Section:

On each of those pages, I've screen capped as much information as I can. I've learned the hard way that stuff on the interweebs disappears or becomes impossible to find again so it's best to screen cap it when you find it.

To screen cap it I use a program called Snagit. This is a paid for program. Certainly there are many other options, but I really like this one. It even allows me to scroll down and capture entire web pages if necessary. Once I capture the information I simple copy it from the Snagit editor and paste it to the appropriate page in OneNote. Using the Snagit Editor I can also add things like highlights or arrows to my screen cap to make sure I know later why I captured that information.

OneNote also allows you to create tables right inside or to files created outside of OneNote to either be linked or inserted right on your page. If, for example, you create a spreadsheet in Excel to track your spending on a costume, you can update it in OneNote and it will sync to the original file as well. You can also have emails tagged to automatically save to a Section, have ToDo lists that sync with the ToDo app in Microsoft 365 and use any number of templates that come standard with it.

I'll update this thread as I build on to my Notebook for my Amidala build!
