This costume has loooong been on my list of costumes to build. I'm going to keep updating this post with my To Do list to hopefully keep me on track. I'll be using One Note to help me keep this large project organized.
This post will be for my list of references and where I've purchased items from.
There are several amazing cosplayers who have not only already made this but have been kind enough to share how they did it. The references I'm finding very helpful are as follows:
Kealy Ann on YouTube has a several part series on her make -
Alyson Tabbitha on YouTube has a makeup tutorial here -
I am fortunate to have an embroidery machine. I have a Husqvarna Designer Diamond single needle. I have been using a digitizer for a loooong time for all of my embroidery related projects. A few years ago I purchased digitizing software to start learning to do it on my own but I'm still a long way from being competent. Luiba of Art Embroidery Designs can be found on both Etsy ( Amidala Embroidery) and on her own website at Welcome to ArtEmbroidery! - ArtEmbroidery . I don't believe she usually has any of her stuff based on movie costumes on her website but she most definitely has a ton of historical designs there.
If you clicked on the link you would have seen that Luiba created the embroidery files for the gold embroidery on the front tabbards. However, the original costume has embroidery that is raised or puffy, and Luiba's were flat. So I reached out to her and she was able to rework her design to all for the under puff stabilizer. This requires everything to have end caps etc. on them to conceal the foam. It's not cheap to get items like this digitized but I highly recommend her work if you are ever in need of any.
To show you the difference this is the original listing:
and this is the version she created at my request:
This post will be for 3D printing of the headpiece and skirt "egg jewels".
I purchased the 3D print files on Etsy from Ceredir Cosplay. Unfortunately, they are no longer there. They do have a website with some stunning print files for sale but no Amidala. Same with their FB page. Not sure what happened there, but definitely check out their website for other stuff at Ceredir Cosplay.
I think this is the piece that I'm going to start off printing. I'm a little unsure of whether or not the very front (that is touching the build plate) is going to work since it doesn't quite look like the real deal but I'll have to see what it looks like with the jewel piece on top. As well - I'm new to 3D printing so I have to figure out supports. I've not printed something as of yet that didn't have them already added to the design. I did just purchase a newer printer specifically to work on this headpiece as my original printer had a slightly smaller build plate (220x220x250). I have played around a little with the auto supports so I'll get there.
I think this is the best piece to go with as it will show me what the scale is like and whether or not it fits my head.
